Dear Armenian families of Arizona, the USA and the world,

In honor of the lost lives of our brothers & sisters in 1915, we would like to extend a special opportunity to you to become involved with the interior development of St Apkar Armenian Apostolic Church by creating together with us a living memorial in our martyrs’ honor. This fundraising effort is to purchase church pews. To honor our victims, we plan to begin buying pews with a dedication plaque on each one. The monies collected for this fundraising memorial will be in attempt to cover a portion of the costs of the pews. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact the Church office @ 480-451-5131 for further details. The dedication of these donors will be made public on Sunday April 25, 2010. All are invited to commemorate the memory of our beloved martyrs at the Divine Liturgy conducted on that Sunday.

~ Der Zacharia

August 8, 2009

Dear Parents:

We pray that you and your family have enjoyed a safe and happy summer. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 13th for the Opening Day of Armenian Sunday & Language School. Please note that Sunday and Armenian Language School will begin on this day at 10:00 am sharp with a student/parent orientation to meet your new teacher and staff. We will end the morning with taking Communion together and a short program where Rev. Fr. Zacharia Saribekyan will bless the teachers and students.

We have reorganized our Sunday School program to include the following changes: Luciek Mkrdichian will continue to teach Pre-school children (ages 3-4), Olivia Andonyan will teach Kindergarten & 1st Grade students (ages 5-6), Julie Krajekian will teach 2nd & 3rd Grade students (ages 7-8), Andreh Janian will teach 4th & 5th Grade students (ages 9-10), and Donna Sirounian will teach 6th – 8th Grade students (ages 11-13). Our Armenian School program will include Tina Najarian teaching Western Armenian Language and Djemile Touresian teaching Eastern Armenian Language. We are also fortunate to have Sevo Hagopian and Dr. Steve Ovanessoff as our substitute teachers.

School will begin each Sunday at 10am, with Armenian school from 10am to 11am, followed by Sunday School from 11am to 12 noon. On the first Sunday of each month, we will take communion in church and hope all family members will be able to join us. Following communion, we will enjoy fellowship together so we can get to know each other and foster new friendships.

We will be using the curriculums suggested by the Christian Education Council (CEC) of Armenian Church Western Diocese. The Curriculum will include lessons from ‘Living the Good News’ combined with the ‘We Believe’ Curriculum developed by The Armenian Church Eastern Diocese. Collectively, these curriculums will provide a solid foundation of the teachings of the Armenian Orthodox faith and cultural heritage, as well as the life of Christ and biblical lessons that will encourage your child to develop strong Christian morals.

We would like to thank you, the parents, for encouraging the faith formation of your children by faithfully bringing them to Sunday School and Armenian Language School each week. Without your dedication, your children will not have the advantage of learning about their rich religious and cultural heritage.

Thank you again for entrusting us with your child(ren).
Prayerfully, The Sunday and Armenian School Teachers of St. Apkar Armenian Church.
